Charles E. Rounds, Partner
Charles Rounds (“Chad”) is a founding partner at Rounds & Bowman LLC in Aurora, Colorado, where his primary emphasis of practice is in estate and trust administration and estate planning, including wills, power of attorneys, and living wills. Other areas of his practice include guardianships, conservatorships, Medicaid planning, use of family limited partnerships and LLCs for planning purposes, preparation of 1041s, 706s, and 709s, real estate, and probate litigation.
Chad earned his B.A. degree from Georgetown University, College of Arts and Sciences, and his J.D. degree from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.
Chad is an active member of the Trust & Estate and the Real Estate sections of the Colorado Bar Association. He currently serves as a member of the Executive Council for the CBA Trust & Estate section and has served as the Trust and Estate Section Liaison to the CBA Real Estate section since 2019. He is also a member of the Denver Bar Association.
Chad is a frequent author in the trust and estate community. He is co-editor of Loring and Rounds: A Trustee's Handbook (editions 2008 – present). He has also authored several articles in the Colorado Lawyer, including “Five Common Client Misconceptions about Estate Planning” (Dec. 2018, co-authored with Emily L. Bowman), "Navigating Colorado's New Abandoned Wills Depository" (May 2024), and “Estate Planning for Real Property” (Dec. 2025).
Chad was listed as a Rising Star in Super Lawyers Magazine under Estate Planning & Probate in 2016. He is also listed in The Best Lawyers in America in the fields of Trusts & Estates (recognized since 2017) and Elder Law (recognized since 2018).
Chad was a faculty member for several programs in the areas of estate planning and estate administration, including the CBA-CLE sponsored programs, “Introduction to Ethics in Estate Planning,” (January 2020), and "The 15-Minute Drill" on Real Estate Trust & Estate Forms (Real Estate Symposium, July 2021). His additional presentations include "Real Estate Issues in Estate Planning" at the CBA's 2022 Annual Estate Planning Retreat, and “Navigating Colorado’s New Abandoned Wills Repository” at the 2025 Colorado ACTEC Annual Dinner.
